Ayran
Cool and wonderfully refreshing, this Homemade Turkish Ayran is a traditional yoghurt-based drink and the perfect accompaniment to our savoury breads, pastries and Turkish meals.
Our Ayran is very similar to the Moroccan Leben, only lighter. It's freshly prepared using probiotic kefir yoghurt creating a smooth, light and slightly tangy, salted drink. In Turkiye, it is served chilled and is particularly refreshing alongside rich, spicy or grilled foods such as Adana kebab, döner, pide, samsa and gözleme.
Using probiotic yoghurt also gives our Ayran more than just its distinctive flavour. Live probiotic cultures can help support a healthy balance of bacteria in the gut and contribute to normal digestive health. Yoghurt is also naturally a source of nutrients such as protein and calcium, making Ayran a refreshing alternative to many sweetened soft drinks.
With its simple ingredients and traditional flavour, it's an authentic taste of Turkish food culture in every bottle.

Frequently asked questions
What is ayran and how does it compare to Moroccan lben?
Ayran is a cold, salted yoghurt drink traditional in Turkey. It is very similar to Moroccan lben but lighter in texture. Ours is made with kefir yoghurt, water and salt, giving it a smooth, mildly tangy flavour that pairs well with savoury food.
What allergens does the ayran contain?
Ayran contains dairy. The three ingredients are kefir yoghurt, water and salt. The kitchen also handles gluten, eggs and sesame, so cross-contamination is possible. If you have a severe allergy, please contact the bakery before ordering.
How should I store the ayran and how long does it keep?
Keep it refrigerated at all times and consume it within 3 days of purchase. Shake the bottle gently before drinking, as separation is normal with ayran. Serve it chilled straight from the fridge.
